Southern Lake District
Beatrix Potter. Forest walks. Great views.
Wordsworth. A cruise on a lake. Reaching the
summit of The Old Man of Coniston. Ancient
tracks through old mineworkings. There’s no better
way to explore Lakeland than on foot.
Coniston Water in the southern part of the Lake District
lies in an area of typically beautiful and spectacular scenery.
A walkers' paradise, the Lake District offers so much
to seasoned walkers or newcomers alike. Our range of guided
walking holidays really does open up the tops and views to all.
To the east rises the woodland of Grizedale Forest,
while to the west craggy peaks rear up dramatically amid some
of the Lakeland's classic fell walking terrain. There are
some highly rewarding smaller summits, and from Monk Coniston
a woodland track leads up to Tarn Hows, a tranquil
tree-fringed lake.
- Outstanding Lake District scenery
- Stay in a historic National Trust property
- Walks for everyone in the region's beautiful valleys of high fells

A typical Classic Walking day
will offer you a choice of 2 or 3 guided walks, each
of varying length and ascent. If you are new to walking, start
at the easiest level, where the pace is the gentlest. We have
plenty of stops to enjoy the views and to rest. As your holiday
progresses you may feel confident to try a more challenging
level, or stick to the same level - it's entirely your choice.
